The Curious Collection from Marginalia Design Works:
Tiny earrings for people who like their jewelry a little on the odder side.
The Curious Collection images were inspired by the visual language of Lotería cards, milagros, ex-votos, and other vintage printed ephemera that are precious only because they mattered to someone.
Each pair features an original illustration by Rena Hopkins, printed on archival-quality Red River paper and set beneath a 16mm glass cabochon in an antique-bronze setting. They’re deliberately lightweight, brightly colored, slightly raw, and cute AF.
The artwork is drawn and printed, then assembled by hand in a home studio at the edge of Appalachia. Because handmade things are made by actual human beings, there may be tiny variations from pair to pair.
The useful stuff: 16mm glass cabochons; lightweight construction; nickel-free ear wires. The finished earrings are water resistant enough for normal wear, but not waterproof—please don’t swim, shower, or bathe in them. Not dishwasher safe.
The metal components are nickel-free, but these are not recommended for people with severe metal allergies or extreme metal sensitivities.
Each pair arrives in its own black presentation box featuring the full-size artwork inside the lid and the Marginalia Design Works logo on the top.
Artist’s note: Shout out to True Grit Texture Supply. These illustrations were created using brushes from their Monomania and Lithotones brush sets.
